Augmented User Experience Design and Analysis, Poster Design.

Until the rise of VR and AR, we had a digital universe that was trapped behind glass screens. Powerful and portable, but still distant and inaccessible. Now the digital is taking substance in our reality. We, as digital designers, are its architects, artists, and storytellers. Designing for the digital experiences of the future is impossible without a deeper understanding and exploration of the medium and its impact. I use fictive design in which interaction with interfaces may become as instinctual as the gestures we perform every day, during our interpersonal communication. I choose to use a fictive design approach in this project to question and open discussion about the future in AR interfaces. This fictive design is a proposed interpersonal set of gestures.

This is a set of gestures that concern user’s interaction with current AR interfaces and reflect how a particular interface development and its affordances results in automated gestural interactions, as part of technological processes forced upon the user. The gestures naturally served as a form of nonverbal communication, but in my fictive design they are given a contextual meaning and a functionality in the AR interface. I designed an identity including poster design and visualized the interaction design model through a video which acts as a manual showing the gestures performed and the interface functionality they were given. The design language used in this project also takes an important role in the way it communicates to the audience because the fictive interaction model should appear real to be plausible but signal that it is not. For that reason, the design language for this fictive design is unnatural and even glitchy.
